Fox 16’s Donna Terrell interviewed Little Rock’s new police chief, Kenton Buckner, last night. He’ll take over for retiring Stuart Thomas by the end of the month.
“There are no simple solutions to complex problems,” said Buckner in response to questions about violent crime. He touted “data driven” and “hot spot” focused response to particularly difficult neighborhoods.

He also addressed the “elephant in the room,” inside candidate Eric Higgins being a finalist for the job. He said he viewed that as an asset.
He also said this: “We cannot arrest our way out of problems.” He stressed community participation, a theme that made him attractive to City Manager Bruce Moore in the selection process.
