Attorney General Dustin McDaniel is touting the money he’s raised for a 2014 race for governor — more than $1 million in his first three months. He’s spending $45,000 a month so far.

This doesn’t include the more than $300,000 he has raised for his “leadership PAC.”

A big bankroll doesn’t hurt. But if 2012 has taught us anything, it’s taught that special interest money is a bottomless well. No matter how much he raises, somebody else can match it, if not in direct contributions through supporting fire from Kochs and Co.

UPDATE: Roby Brock mined the report for some individual contributors. Bad timing for McDaniel to shake down a casino operator and its law firm during a time when he switched legal positions on a casino ballot question in a way that helped the casino operator.
