It is for real. Sen. Gene Jeffress indeed has made a formal announcement as the first Democrat to declare for the open 4th District congressional seat. He’s low tech so far. Got a text attachment to an e-mail from a family member. No Facebook, Twitter or other social media tools in use just yet. No money either. It is important to remember that the Republicans who are busy raising money have a contested primary. So far, Jeffress doesn’t, though the longer you raise money and the more you pile up, the better.
