Rachel Maddow, in cheering the repeal of Don’t Ask Don’t Tell, rewound the film clip to beat all film clips during the death throes of the fight to discriminate against military men and women. Dead birds, dead fish, a city named Beebe, an Arkansas governor named Beebe, a policy started by a president from Arkansas. All adds up, doesn’t it? It did to Cindy Jacobs, a wackjob preacher and, naturally, a Rick Perry supporter.

On a not-so-crazy note, a Google alert led us to this CBS News story with an interesting Arkansas angle on the DADT issue. It tells the story of Catherine Crisp, a professor of social work at UALR, and her partner, Kaye McKinzie, who recently retired from the military and now teaches at UCA. The couple spent 15 years together under don’t ask, don’t tell before McKinzie retired.

“I felt like I spent 15 years holding my breath,” Crisp said.
