I haven’t talked with him yet, but I just stumbled across the website of a brave man, Greg Adams. He’s going to run for Little Rock School Board, the seat being vacated by Baker Kurrus, who’s fought the good fight for many a year. It’s a job with long hours, no pay and many competing constituencies in behalf of an organization that sometimes seems like everyone’s whipping boy.

Here’s Adams’ Facebook page. He’s a clinical social worker with kids in Forest Heights Middle School (a school that needs some fixes) and Central High.

Filing for School Board doesn’t begin until July 19 and runs through noon July 23. The other Board seat up in Little Rock is that of Micheal Daugherty, his victory three years ago a key in the board’s transition to a 4-3 black majority and the ouster of Superintendent Roy Brooks. I keep asking and Daugherty keeps deferring an answer.

The Board is in the middle of another intense debate — nearly all behind the scenes — on current leadership. Superintendent Linda Watson is entering the third and final year of her contract. She has not been given any rollover years. The Board will have an evaluation session with her tomorrow night in executive session. Board members’ questions about her leadership cross racial lines.

PS — For many who’ve asked, Superintendent Watson has recommended, among other management changes, that Sandra Register, most recently a teacher at Fulbright, be the new principal at Williams Magnet School.

UPDATE: Further from Board member Daugherty on his plans:
