Wal-Mart may be dominating the grocery market in Arkansas, but Kroger isn’t giving up.
It will break ground Tuesday on a new store, adjacent to an existing Kroger at 16105 Chenal Parkway. The plan got city zoning approval last year. It will be the state’s first “Marketplace” Kroger, an expanded version that will include more general merchandise, more prepared foods, a gas station and a Fred Meyer jewelry store. Some info here on the Marketplace entry.

The new store isn’t the only news. A Kroger news release said the company plans a $125 million investment in other new stores and renovations to existing Krogers.
