It’s a biggie:  the U.S. Supreme Court has struck down Washington D.C.’s ban on handgun ownership. The decision was 5-4. Scalia’s majority opinion did note that the ruling does not disturb any number of measures that place limits on weapons. Kennedy joined the Fearsome Foursome of the Right Wing to form the majority.

Please note: handguns still must be registered in D.C., which was probably a more sensible approach all along.
